Luscious Hand and Body Cream

Yes, it's Tuesday, but I'll give you a break from my usual "fish recipe" post for a wonderfully, luscious hand and body cream.
I don't know about y'all, but our skin has been so dry lately. I think all this wonderful curling up in front of the fire with a good book is catching up with me :).

Hand and Body Cream
1 cup sweet almond oil
1 cup water
2 ounces beeswax
essential oils of your choice
Directions: Add beeswax to oil and heat until wax is melted and oil is warm. Heat water in a separate container until about the same temperature as the oil/wax mix. Place oil/wax in blender turn on low. In a thin stream add water slowly until it is completely mixed into the oil. Add essential oils of your choice until your desired scent is reached. Pour into containers. Enjoy!!!

Comments- the first time I made this I used just almond oil and it was really terrific. The next time I used 1/2 grape seed oil and 1/2 almond oil- I liked this better. I also added several capsules of vitamin E oil (good for your skin and also acts as a preservative). For the scent I like lavender mixed with peppermint. This does make a sweet girly smell. For the whole family, you might want to stick with peppermint or bergamot. Right after you make it, it is pourable. As it cools it will harden to a more cream texture.

For a wonderful treat use it while it is still warm. Wonderfullllllllll....... and the best part- no toxic ingredients. I actually had the thought yesterday while mine was cooling on the counter, "what if someone walks by and thinks this is icing?" No worry- it won't kill 'em!

Hi! This recipe sounds great but I am new to making my own creams and things. I was wondering if you could use all grapeseed oil or another oil? My son is allergic to nuts and I can't have this oil in my home or on my body. Any ideas? Thank you. Heather

Oh! Thank you so much for this recipe! I have been looking for something like this and can't wait to try it. I wonder if you could use it for hair conditioner? Don't worry, I'll be the genie pig and try it first! ;-)

Hey Lindsay- I have some recipes for hair conditioner. Actually Allison makes this delicious smelling "concoction" she puts on her hair- I'll post her recipe for you. As far as using the cream on your hair I'd be concerned about the beeswax. How does that do in hair? Blessings, Jane

Heather- from what I've read grapeseed oil is wonderful for skin. I'd give it a try. Be sure you add some vitamin E oil as a preservative. Let me know how you like it. I have a friend that has a nut allergy and we were going to make some for her- without the almond oil. Blessings, Jane

Jane,
Thanks so much for posting this. I can't wait to try it. Where do you purchase your oils?

Nice recipe. I use olive oil for my daughter with hypersensitive skin(the cheap stuff) I'll have to try bergamot for -not girly scents- I stick to grapefruit esential oil.
My daughters and I spent last week perfecting homemade lip balm- this stuff is so much fun!

Amy- I purchase my oils from a variety of places. I'm always on the look out for the cheapest prices. The almond oil I get from Whole Foods; olive oil from Sam's; grapeseed oil from Costco; and, occasionally I stumble upon some really nice oils at our local bent and dent grocery. I've had trouble finding palm oil locally so I usually have to purchase it online. Hope this is helpful. Blessings, Jane

Thank you, Jane! I'll have to try that. Thanks, also, for the second variation. I am looking forward to having more homemade products in my home. Heather P.S. I don't have those stores nar me, so I have found many of these ingredients on eBay.

Hey Jane,
We are going to try to make the hand cream- looking forward to it! I saw the comment you made saying you'd post a recipe Allison uses for conditioner-we'd love to have that as well. Where did you post it? THank you! Blessings,Kim
