Hello Sarah! I just read your comment on my blog...sorry I didn't see it sooner!
In answer to your question...I think I just played around with the fabric and when it fit right I measured everything and wrote it down on the graph paper to remember the dimensions. I can't remember quite how I figured it out, was a little while ago! But the chemise was really easy to figure out because it is pretty stright lines.
I also got a some ideas from the ladies on the Sense and Sensibility message Forum. They're always really helpful. :)
